Microsoft knows it is time to step it up. Re-energize how it does business. So it just ushered in Satya Nadella as its new CEO. Only the third CEO since the company launched. First thing the leadership team did under Mr. Nadella’s tenure? Clarify its purpose. And yep, this is what they came up with:

You’ve had those days.

I was tired. I mean TIRED.

It was -11 degrees in Toledo that morning when I strolled out of my hotel. Winds whipped ferociously across the parking lot. Chicago the day before. Meetings. Coachings. Airport transfers. Rental car pick-up.

Anticipatory joy IS joy. Because it happens in the present moment, it fires up the present. Since it forecasts a future event, it begets even more joy. Joy multiplied.
